2009 Halifax Raiders

The Halifax Raiders have been active for over 25 years.
The 2001 Halifax Raiders were undefeated through the regular season, the Provincial and Maritime Playoffs.
The 2003 Halifax Raiders were undefeated through the regular season.
The 2004 Halifax Raiders were undefeated through both the regular season and the Provincial Playoffs.
The 2005 Halifax Raiders were undefeated through the regular season, Provincial and Maritime Playoffs.
The Raiders were Provincial Champions in 2001, 2004 and 2005.
The Raiders were Maritime Champions in 2001 and 2005.

Shannon Varen
Head Coach

Shannon got her start in football as Manager for the Halifax Peewee Raiders, Assistant Manager for the Halifax Chargers and Football Nova Scotia Volunteer in 2003. In 2004 Shannon took on the role of Manager of the Halifax Chargers. In 2005 Shannon was one of the founding members of the Halifax Xplosion Women's Football Team and continued to act as President through the 2008 season. Shannon also became Vice-President of the Maritime Women�s Football League and Football Nova Scotia Board Member in 2006. In 2007 Shannon became the Secretary of Football Nova Scotia and began coaching Defensive Backs with the Halifax Peewee Raiders achieving her Level 1 Coaching Certificate. Early in 2008 Shannon became the President of the Maritime Women�s Football League. Since that time Shannon has completed her Level 2 Coaching training, coached a Junior Player Development program and become an Assistant Offensive Coach with the Halifax Xplosion. Shannon is currently coaching a Spring/Summer football camp for youth ages 10-15 and plans to be coaching at the upcoming Junior Player Development for Girls.

Damian Byrne
Defensive Coach

Damian started playing football at age ten and until he was fourteen he played here in Halifax for the Gorsebrook Golden Hawks. Damian played three years at St Pats as a line backer and an offensive guard. Damian went on to play Middle Line Backer at St. Mary's for five years 82-87

Nalani Perry
O Line/Special Teams Coach

Nalani began her football career in 2007 when she played Offensive Line for the Halifax Xplosion. This was followed by coaching O Line with the Halifax Raiders and completing her Level 1 Coaching training and then coaching a Junior Player Development program. In 2008 season Nalani was the O Line coach for the Halifax Xplosion and plans to be coaching at the upcoming Junior Player Development for Girls.
